Huge news coming out of the college football ranks as multiple SMU players will sit out the remainder of the 2022 season with the intention of entering the transfer portal, according to multiple reports.

Sophomore safety Isaiah Nwokobia, veteran DB Chace Cromartie, and receivers Roderick Daniels Jr. and Jayleen Record, will enter the portal, according to On3.

“A development in a new era of college football. Multiple SMU players plan to sit out the rest of season with intention to preserve their redshirt year and enter the transfer portal, multiple SMU staff members with knowledge of the situation said,” Joseph Hoyt reported.

SMU isn’t the only football program experiencing this new trend.

Boise State’s starting quarterback, Hank Bachmeier, announced his intention to transfer after the Broncos fired their offensive coordinator.

A new era of college football is upon us.

Expect more players to sit out the rest of the 2022 season with the intention of soon entering the transfer portal.
