A former Husker tragically lost his life Sunday night after a crash on an Indiana toll.
An investigation indicates that a white 2017 Ford SUV was traveling west when it hit a deer and then crossed the center median before colliding with a black 2017 Ford pickup truck that was traveling in the opposite direction.
One of the victims was 31-year-old Mark Pelini, who played at Nebraska from 2010 to 2014.
In total, three people were killed in the crash, police said. He is the nephew of former Husker football coach Bo Pelini.
Former teammates went to social media on Monday to pay respects to the offensive lineman.
1 of my favorite memories of Mark Pelini was driving to Vegas after the Holiday Bowl & him puking all down the side of my whip ? so we pulled up to my pops crib for a pit stop. He hosed the car down, changed his shirt & hopped back in like nothing happened. Rest Easy Brother?

Pelini played at Nebraska from 2010 to 2014, starting his career as a walk-on under his uncle before finishing his career at the Huskers’ starting center.
Pelini started in 13 games while at Nebraska, 11 of them came during the 2014 season.
During his time at the university, Pelini earned several academic awards and was also named to the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team in 2014.
