Ole Miss Football Team Parts Ways with Five-Star Recruit Chris Marshall Over Team Violations

Ole Miss Rebels bid farewell to one of the best receiver prospects in the country, Chris Marshall.

According to Michael Katz of the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, the Rebels have decided to dismiss Marshall due to team violations. However, no specific details about the matter have been disclosed yet.

Ole Miss released a statement acknowledging they have terminated the five-star recruit, wishing him luck in his forthcoming endeavors. Nevertheless, the school did not provide any further information regarding the misconduct that led to the decision.

Marshall spent the previous term with Texas A&M, wherein he collected 11 receptions for 108 yards. Though the Rebels finished last season with an 8-5 record, they lost to Texas Tech 42-25 in the Texas Bowl. Marshall would have been a valuable addition to the already powerful Ole Miss offense. Notably, three of their offensive players got drafted this year, including wide receiver Jonathan Mingo who went 39th overall to the Carolina Panthers, running back Zack Evans who went 215th overall to the Los Angeles Rams, and guard Nick Broeke who went 230st overall to the Buffalo Bills.

While Malik Heath emerged as the top receiver for the Rebels last season with 971 yards, Mingo came behind him with 861 yards.

Stay tuned for further details on the dismissal of Marshall from the Ole Miss football team.
