Ohio State Buckeyes Player Diagnosed With Done Cancer

Ohio State Buckeyes offensive lineman Avery Henry announced Monday that he has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer.

Henry made the announcement via his Twitter page, noting that he learned the news a couple of days ago.

According to Cancer.net, “the general 5-year survival rate for people of all ages is” 74 percent if it’s “diagnosed and treated before it has spread outside the area where it started.”

The 6-foot-6 Henry redshirted for the Buckeyes in 2022. He attended St. Clairsville High School in St. Clairsville, Ohio. The Buckeyes qualified for the College Football Playoff National Championship and will face the defending champion Georgia Bulldogs in the semifinals on July 31.

Ohio State had a perfect 11-0 record before they lost 45-23 to the archrival Michigan Wolverines in their final regular season game. Quarterback C.J. Stroud is widely regarded as a favorite to go first overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Here’s hoping for a safe and speedy recover for Henry.
