Jon Gruden Moves Back To Football As Advisor For European Team

Jon Gruden has made his way back to football but not with an NFL team or even in the United States.

Instead, Gruden has accepted a role as an advisor with the Milano Seamen, a team in the European League of Football, as confirmed by the team’s announcement.

The 60-year-old Gruden will be assisting the Seaman in enhancing their overall organization, according to the announcement.

From the picture shared by the team, it seems Gruden has already begun working with the team, although it is likely he will be providing advice from the U.S. as the Seamen are located in Milan, Italy.

“We are thrilled to have American football icon, Jon Gruden, on board to work with us as an advisor,” stated Milano officials. “Gruden, who secured a Super Bowl victory in 2002 with Tampa Bay as the youngest head coach to do so, will aid us in elevating our organization across all fronts. He has already started collaborating with our coaching staff.”

TMZ Sports reports:

This marks Gruden’s first official role since his controversial departure from the Las Vegas Raiders in October 2021, following the surfacing of past emails containing homophobic, racist, and misogynistic language.

Gruden filed a lawsuit against the NFL a month later, alleging that the league and Commissioner Roger Goodell conspired to ruin his career.

A report from the United States House Oversight and Reform Committee later suggested that the Washington Commanders were responsible for leaking the emails to the media.

The press release also highlighted that Gruden is not the only Super Bowl-winning coach working with the ELF. Gary Kubiak, a three-time Super Bowl-winning coach, has been advising the Panthers Wroc?aw since 2022. Kubiak won a Super Bowl as a head coach with the Denver Broncos and two as an assistant with the San Francisco 49ers.

The ELF, established in 2020, consists of 17 teams located across Europe.
