Jerry Jones Has Tragically Passed Away At The Age Of 89

Jerry Jones, a former longtime assistant coach for the Louisville men’s basketball team, has sadly passed away at the age of 89.

He had been in hospice care since November, as confirmed by his daughter Sherry, and received visits from former Cardinals players during his stay.

Jones served as an assistant to head coach Denny Crum from 1973 to 1996 and later as a university relations assistant from 1996 to 2001. During his tenure, the team reached the Final Four five times and won two national championships. In 1998, he was inducted into the University of Louisville Athletics Hall of Fame.

“We’re saddened to share the passing of Jerry Jones, longtime assistant coach under the late Denny Crum,” the university said in a statement. “Jones worked on the UofL coaching staff from 1973-1996. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.”

Jones’ passing prompted a flood of tributes on social media. We at TotalProSports would like to extend condolences to Jones’ family, friends, and loved ones. Rest in peace, Jerry.
