When responding to reports of an overdose, police found the former Ohio State quarterback unresponsive at a Hampton Inn. The incident took place in June, according to police reports.

The court records show that Schlichter is being charged with a fifth-degree felony count of possession of drugs.

The 62-year-old finished his career at Ohio State with 7,547 passing yards, 50 touchdown passes and 46 interceptions. He suited up as quarterback for the Buckeyes from 1978-81.

He was selected by the Baltimore Colts with the No. 4 overall pick in the 1982 NFL Draft. He played five seasons in the NFL before playing in Canada and the Arena Football League.

Aside from his current legal trouble, Schlichter spent 10 years in prison for a gambling-related crime.
