The Texas Longhorns got screwed.
The college football world is stunned by a botched call during Saturday’s marquee matchup between Texas and Alabama.
The Longhorns’ defense had Alabama pinned against their own endzone during the third quarter. The pass rush got through and took down Bryce Young for what appeared to be a clear safety.
The go-ahead defensive score was negated by a horrible roughing the passer call. The call was later rescinded and replaced with targeting.
Roughing the passer & targeting was called on this play…???

The Longhorns would go on to lose the game 20-19. That safety meant everything.
Alabama wins by 1 point on a day when a bad call cost Texas a safety, and the Longhorns missed a field goal from the 2-yard line on the last play of the first half.

It took the starting quarterback getting injured, a targeting call on what should have been a safety and a last minute kick for Bama to beat Texas lol

If only that Texas safety against Bama would have counted…

Of course #Alabama wins by one point; that non call safety was such a terrible call it needed to completely cost #texas the game.

How this wasn’t a safety is beyond me. Intentional grounding in the end zone, 2 pts Texas come on dawg. https://t.co/Vr1S5tNJLM

Refs shoulda come back out & said…whoops, that’s a safety and Texas gets the ball back.#screwed #turningpoint

Wasn’t like Texas really needed that safety… pic.twitter.com/cBQK24x5tT

A 20.5-point underdog at home, the Texas Longhorns had a chance to get back on the national radar if they could down the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide. Despite the loss, the team showed they will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.
