Ruben Barrett is chasing a dream and trying to put the country on notice that he is here and destined for something great.
It’s going to be a tall task as Barrett is only 4’8” but that hasn’t stopped him from making plays as a wide receiver at Auburndale High School.

“I just wanted to show people that short people can do anything that tall people (can do),” Barrett said to The Ledger last month.
Barrett was once a running back and on the defensive line when he joined a Winter Haven youth football team at the age of 13. He was only 4-foot-3 at that time.
“When I started playing with my peers, it felt great to … show them that I’m not just a short person. I can do anything that (you all) can do; it’s just going to take some time,” Barrett said.
Auburndale’s junior varsity unit would go on to go 8-0 in 2021 with him as a WR.
“It feels good how I can do what a normal size person can do,” Barrett said.
