EA Sports College Football 24 Video Game Update Sparks Social Media

EA Sports college football is making a comeback, with a new game set to be released in the summer of 2024.

EA Sports is in the process of developing the new college football video game, following a significant development this week.

The Brandr Group, which oversees collegiate group licensing deals, has withdrawn its lawsuit against EA Sports and its upcoming College Football 24 video game, according to Matt Brown of Extra Points and Michael Smith of the Sports Business Journal.

The speculation about the game has finally been put to rest, allowing the development of the highly anticipated game to continue.

BrandR had filed the lawsuit over the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals that EA was offering to college football players. The company argued that EA was infringing on its contracts with schools and its exclusive group licensing rights for players.

A statement from EA Sports stated that the lawsuit had no merit and the company was pleased to see BrandR withdraw its claims. The full statement reads:

“We are pleased that BrandR has decided to withdraw their claims without any payment from EA. We’ve been clear from the beginning that this suit had no merit. Our focus continues to be on directly licensing individual college athlete name and likeness rights through an opt-in program that will give college athletes the choice if they want to be in our game. We’re pleased to move on from these claims and look forward to delivering EA SPORTS College Football in Summer 2024.”

The last college football video game created by EA Sports was released in 2013 — NCAA 14. Denard Robinson, the former Michigan quarterback, was featured on the cover.
