For the second straight week, Lee Corso was away from the rest of the College Gameday crew.
At the start of Saturday’s show in Lawrence, Kans., host Rece Davis announced that the 87-year-old was off the show once again for health reasons. Things only got worse surrounding the legend this week.
Just days before GameDay is set to head to Knoxville for a showdown between No. 3 Alabama and No. 6 Tennessee on Saturday, fans sent out a nasty rumor that Corso had passed away.
So a College GameDay tweet was deleted.
Tennessee fans thought that meant they aren’t coming to Knoxville anymore.
And then it somehow started a rumor of Lee Corso dying?!?!?!?

Starting rumors about Lee Corso being Dead with no reliable evidence.. is a very shitty thing to do..

So people are saying that Lee Corso has passed away without any factual information to back it up.
Grow up guys. That’s not ok.

Not so fast my friend…I will not believe @LeeCorso has died until I hear it from Lee Corso himself.
The man is 87 years old and STILL WORKING. I’d say he’s entitled to more sick days than most of us without rumors that he passed.
Prediction: Corso will be mic-ed up on Sat. pic.twitter.com/Bf0nkFWlxZ

Thankfully, cohost Kirk Herbstreit cleared the air.
Just wanted to let people know @CollegeGameDay is 1000% coming to Knoxville this weekend-we are fired up to come back to town-
our ENTIRE crew can’t wait to get there and give this game the love and hype it deserves-see ya in Knoxville this weekend! @Vol_Football @AlabamaFTBL— Kirk Herbstreit (@KirkHerbstreit) October 11, 2022
The update comes just a week after Corso missed last Saturday’s show at Clemson when he woke up feeling “a little bit” under the weather, per Davis.
“Lee Corso, not with us this week and those of you who are with us every single week know he didn’t feel great last week at Clemson,” Davis said to open this Saturday’s show. “He’s feeling much better. Spoke to him yesterday, but still another week to recuperate and hope to get LC back in the chair pretty soon.”
Kirk Herbstreit revealed that he also spoke to Corso earlier this week and that the former college coach was feeling much better.
“It’s very strange for everybody watching and those of us on the set, of course, not to have Lee here,” Herbstreit said. “He does sound better, but I think by doctor’s orders, he wasn’t expected to be able to travel this week, but the news is good with the tests he’s been receiving. Next week, he’ll be with us. Wherever College GameDay is, LC will be back with us where he belongs.”
