Jamir Johnson just had his life change in an instance after he was arrested after a car crash that killed a former Cumberland University football player.

The 24-year-old crashed a red Dodge Charger into a tree on Labor Day. Murfreesboro police officials report that speed may have played a factor in the crash. Officials found an open bottle of alcohol in the car at the scene.

The accident claimed the life of his teammate Marcus Webb, who was a passenger in the front seat.

The other teammates in the car were Brandon Pace Jr. who remains in critical condition, Jeremiah Matthews, and Lamar Childress. All the men in the car were players for Cumberland or former players.

Johnson has been charged with vehicular homicide and three counts of vehicular assault. He was treated for his injures at Vanderbilt University Medical Center following the crash.

He is being held on a $180,000 bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

He is due in court on Oct. 3 in Rutherford County.
