The Scott Frost era is finally over in Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers lost 45-42 to Georgia Southern on Saturday night, as the Eagles became the third Sun Belt team to beat a Power Five opponent in Week 2.

The embarrassing loss was the last straw for the Nebraska higher-ups, as they announced that they will be firing Frost.

Nebraska allowed 642 yards of offense to Georgia Southern as the Eagles rushed for five touchdowns and averaged nearly eight yards a carry. The loss moved the Cornhuskers to 1-2 on the season, as they lost their opener to Northwestern before beating North Dakota last weekend.

Nebraska plays Oklahoma in Week 3 before games against Indiana and Rutgers. Assistant Coach Mickey Joseph has been announced as the interim coach. He previously served as an assistant at LSU.
